About Meadowlark
Called “the Festival to Watch” by Chamber Music America, Meadowlark Music Festival was founded in 2001 by Ann Chang Barnes, a pianist and Professor of Music at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. With the assistance of Board of Directors President, Jane Rohman, Executive Director, Tamara Cass, an active and working Board of Directors, and widespread community and foundation support, Meadowlark is now celebrating its 10th year of classical music performances.
A 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, Meadowlark’s mission is to make classical music a necessary component of every Nebraskan’s definition of “The Good Life”. We do this by presenting first-rate chamber music in comfortable and interesting venues and at a fraction of the cost of larger organizations. Children under 16 are always admitted free to our Lincoln area concerts as part of our commitment to families. We hope that “musical memories” will be made at each of our concerts!
Nebraska’s only summer classical music festival, Meadowlark hopes to expose as many people from different races, ages, economic statuses, and educational levels to classical music. We have a subsidized ticket program to enable lower income families to attend our regular concerts. Meadowlark Musicians perform free at schools and cultural centers throughout the community, and neighbors and businesses are invited to attend. Our educational offerings extend to Master Classes for secondary school students, held each year at Sheldon Museum of Art.
